Meet Dr. Marlene "Marley" Holmes, Ph.D., MSW, NASM-CPT

Dr. Marlene Holmes is a trailblazing leader in social work and wellness, bringing over 16 years of experience in mental health, addiction treatment, and community-based initiatives. In 2024, she became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, combining her expertise in mental health and fitness to empower individuals on their wellness journeys.

As the founder of The BFCA Experience LLC, Dr. Holmes provides a unique blend of support for athletes and non-athletes, focusing on fitness, mental health, and life transitions. A former Division I collegiate athlete, Dr. Holmes uses her personal experiences to address the challenges of athletic identity, grief, and the pressures of life after sports. Her passion is to help individuals—especially Black athletes—redefine who they are beyond the roles society assigns to them.

Dr. Holmes earned her Ph.D. in Social Work in 2022, successfully defending her dissertation on October 5, and holds an MSW from the University of Central Florida. She is also a proud alumna of Bethune-Cookman University. Her professional journey spans roles as an adjunct professor, therapist, and healthcare administrator managing inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction programs for youth and adults across Florida.
